Mythology

"Without the power of the gods we would not be here today. Trees would not grow, the sun would not shine, and there would be no love or hope. There would be only darkness. Without us, however, they would not be gods, merely powerful beings without purpose. Our faith powers them, and in turn, they guide, protect, and bless us all. Without one, there cannot be the other. Each life, and death, upon this earth empowers them, and therefore blesses all. Never forget that, for faith is our true salvation."
- Khiev Treilbourne
Priest of Elijah

The pantheons of Avalon and the surrounding kingdoms, at least those within the League of Six Crowns, are very similar. Differences surface from kingdom to kingdom, but the primary set of deities that are worshipped changes little. Only the order in which they are honored changes. The people of Sollurea hold Elijah, the Sun, as their chief deity, while those in Avalon hold Arthur in a higher place. Differences such as this are primarily due to differing lifestyles and areas of concern in the respective culture. The kingdom of Sollurea has seen little war, but relies on the sun for its crops, therefore, the people regard the Sun as their priority. Avalon, however, has seen constant struggle against the forces of evil and thusly place high praise to Arthur, an honorable and noble war god. Each kingdom, however, is paganistic in that they worship, or at least recognize the existence of other gods. Truly, only the various priests of the land put all of their faith in one deity.

For now, we shall concentrate on the faiths of the good people of Avalon. Honor, valor, nobility, and chivalry are the highest virtues. It is a land of a good king, his knights, and the pursuit of peace for all. In distant lands, Avalon’s capitol, Dragonfell, is called “Camelot on Earth”.

The highest deity is Arthur, King of the Gods. His kingdom is Camelot, where he holds court that includes all the gods of good. Who each of these beings are and how they fit into the Kingdom is detailed in the entries below.
