Mythology ...
"Without the power of the gods we would not be here today. Trees would not grow, the sun would not shine, and there would be no love or hope. There would be only darkness. Without us, however, they would not be gods, merely powerful beings without purpose. Our faith powers them, and in turn, they guide, protect, and bless us all. Without one, there cannot be the other. Each life, and death, upon this earth empowers them, and therefore blesses all. Never forget that, for faith is our true salvation." |

“Stand tall, men! We are on the edge of a battle unlike any other. Our foes are evil and vile and in league with the Devil. They are powerful. Beyond anything we have yet seen. They think us afraid and that only honor and duty keep us here. That shall be their undoing! We do not fight for honor! We do not fight for greed! We do not fight because our king has commanded it! We fight… we fight to save our very homes. Our families. Those we love and cherish. We fight this war because it has been thrust upon us and we will not tolerate an incursion of evil and darkness! We will not surrender our way of life to this base demon!
Know you that Amar the Mighty watches over each of you. As you fight and use what He has taught us, He will be with you. If you fall in battle, He will be there. Die well and He will have a place for you in the Army of Camelot. If you fight well and survive this battle, He will know. Should you be fortunate enough to die an old man, he will remember you and this day! When you stand before Him, He will already know you! This day we prove our mettle before the eyes of Amar the Mighty, may He bless us all!”
- Cain Blackshield, Commander of the Knights of the League, Avalon Division, on the eve of the Kalean War.

Amar is a warrior’s god. He cares little for honor, chivalry, and righteous posturing. The thrill of combat, surviving and winning the battle, and having a place to go after a warrior’s death are the most important things to him. Amar is the captain of the guard in Camelot and the general of the non knight armies. His basic belief is that one must do whatever they can to survive and win a battle. He is a bit of an outsider in Camelot, but his unrivaled skill as a military tactician and the loyalty he commands from his armies have earned him the respect of Arthur.
Warriors, guards, mercenaries, and soldiers all pay Amar homage. He is their ultimate commander. They know that he watches over them in battle and will watch over them still if they die. Clerics of Amar are warriors at heart and can fight, drink, and celebrate with the best. In fact, many ceremonies at the temples end up as celebrations fit for a tavern. Some of this has led to a great rivalry between the followers of Arthur and the followers of Amar. Knights, priests, and nobles that are followers of Arthur look down at those who follow Amar as if they were a lower class of person. Amar’s faithful find those of Arthur to be stuffy, pompous, and self righteous. Thus far there has been no bloodshed between the two, but tempers have flared to extremes on both sides.
There is a strange relationship between the followers of Amar and those of Amberley (the Mistress of Murder). Amar’s clerics view the followers of Amberley as misguided souls who simply need a nudge in the right direction. Outside of combat, the number one priority of the clergy of Amar is the redemption of Amberley’s followers. These conversions, when successful, have become powerful relationships. Many that fail end in tormented sorrow. It is unknown why both priesthoods participate in this game.
Amar oversees combat, war, strength, skill at arms, and warrior’s death. As a death god and a god of war, Amar’s greatest fear is that his followers will become undead. He has a great loathing for these abominations, and would see them destroyed however possible, allowing them to rest peacefully and join him in Camelot. His symbol is a plate gauntlet gripping the hilt of a sword.
