Mythology ...
"Without the power of the gods we would not be here today. Trees would not grow, the sun would not shine, and there would be no love or hope. There would be only darkness. Without us, however, they would not be gods, merely powerful beings without purpose. Our faith powers them, and in turn, they guide, protect, and bless us all. Without one, there cannot be the other. Each life, and death, upon this earth empowers them, and therefore blesses all. Never forget that, for faith is our true salvation." |

"You will have many weapons to assist you in your goals. Lust, greed, deception, and keen wits are your bread and butter. Every person in this world has a weakness, every man a price. The higher and mightier they are, the further they shall fall. Let your hatred know no bounds, and your heart show no mercy. You are the chosen of Amberley and she shall reward those that are faithful to her. Fail her and your fall from her grace will land you in a grave.
Lust will be your best tool in the beginning. Few can resist its sweet pull and none can deny its power. Your victims will tell you anything you want to know if their lust is satisfied, especially men. By preying upon a person’s desires, you gain their interest, which allows you to begin to control them. Take them to a secluded alley with promises of your bodily warmth and pleasures of the flesh, only to leave them with a venomous dagger in their belly, if you choose. Or simply use it to gain their trust. Once you have that, you have THEM.
Where lust leaves off, love begins. Love is your most powerful and dangerous weapon. Powerful because there are none that can resist it. Dangerous because it can take you if you are not careful, for love is our bane. Once a victim lusts for you, they have given you an opening. Once they love you, they have given you their kingdom."

It is said that Amberley was once a mortal woman, the princess of the once glorious Goldenthorn barbarian clan, taken as a slave when her clan was wiped out. Others say she was always a demoness in the legions of Hell. Either way, it is said that she gained freedom and power by practicing what she preaches; seduction, deception, and murder. Rumors persist that she even seduced and took power from the Devil Himself. Regardless of the truth of her origin, one thing is certain: she embodies evil in its most beautiful, tempting, and treacherous ways.
The vast majority of Amberley’s followers are women that are attracted to her by promises of power, revenge, and wealth. They come from all walks of life, though members of a particular sect tend to be of similar social standing. For example, there was once a sect in Dragonfell that contained several nobles and wealthy merchants that would prey upon wealthy visitors during grand balls. On the other side of the coin, the Dock Ward once contained another sect of prostitutes and homeless women (and a few men, actually) that would slowly empty the coffers of their “regulars”, bringing entire families to ruin in the process. Though these two examples are relatively extreme, it just shows how versatile her followers are. They can be any one and anywhere.
For some reason, the Amberley’s faithful tend to take a special liking to the seduction and destruction of followers of Amar. The reasons for this are lost in the past, but it shows no signs of ever stopping. It seems to be a rite of passing for the faithful and the only way to reach the upper ranks of the loosely organized church. Many that undertake this task too early, however, end up falling in love with their victim and leave the faith. Amberley does not look kindly upon this failure, and those that leave in this way are targets for the rest of their days.
Amberley claims power over hatred, murder, greed, power, and betrayal. Her symbol is a woman’s eyes looking through a carnival mask with poisoned daggers as pupils. Her symbol is never worn openly, as that would give the wearer away, but a carnival mask of some type is almost always carried.
